Q. What do I do if I can’t get the video to play?
A. 1. If you don’t have a high-speed connection, your video may have to ‘buffer,’ or transfer, for longer, possibly causing it to stop, or delay starting.
2. You need the free Adobe Flash Player plug-in to view the videos. Download Here from a secure source.

Q. What do I do if I forgot my password?
A. Click here to go to our password retrieval form.
Q. What if I want or don't want the newsletter Tidbits any more?
A. Go to our tidbits e-newsletter page and fill out the subscribe or unsubscribe forms. You can also unsubscribe by following the 'click here to leave mailing list' link on the bottom of your emailed newsletter. The newsletter is free and opt-in only, so even if you're a member, you'll have to subscribe to it to have it emailed.
Q. I’d really like to become a smarter mama, but my funds don’t allow that right now. Are there any options?
A. Yes. If we could we’d give memberships to every mother on the planet with a computer (but our staff needs to eat). We do have the John G. Farr memorial scholarship available for 100 memberships a year.
John was a beautiful, intelligent soul, and passionate about the environment. We hope to honor his memory by adding to the intelligent choices on the planet by offering free memberships to Smart Foods Healthy Kids.

Q. Where do you get your facts?
A. Kelly has a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard that focused on environmental policy. That got her started on a greener path; offered her excellent foundational grounding; and taught her how to do fabulous research.
She loves to read books and the latest research, and its amazing how many experts answer their own phones! But Kelly’s pretty picky about the resources she uses. She even checks into who funded the studies she shares with you all.
Kelly is also a big believer that what is true for one person’s body will not necessarily be true—or a “fact”—for another individual. For some people, wheat is completely healthy and nutritious (if it’s organic, of course), but for others it is poison. Kelly likes to eat mostly raw foods these days, and if her very healthy carnivorous husband went too many days without cooked meat, well, it wouldn’t be pretty.
Also keep in mind, that “facts” are sometimes commonly held inaccuracies. At one point, we were told that margarine (filled with hydrogenated oil) was better for us than butter. Now even the National Academies of Science says that there is no safe amount of hydrogenated oil.
What we bring you is a combination of the latest research (which doesn’t always agree with itself!), our own opinions, and lots of experience “in the field.” Our hope is that you will find what’s true and best for your own body and family, and have a fun time discovering those “facts” along the way!
Q. Where can I find some of your ingredients?
A. Organic is always best, but if you don’t have a local health food store, you may have to make substitutions. However, there are probably a lot of items right there in your local grocery that you haven’t noticed before! Ethnic stores, too (Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, etc.), are good resources.
Whenever we have been unable to locate something in our local stores (fresh, organic, stone ground, chestnut flour, for example), the internet has been our hero.
Q. I have a great idea for a recipe/episode/article! Where should I send it?
A. Contact us.
Q. I found an error somewhere, you want to know about it, right?
A.Oh YES! Despite our earnest efforts, we suspect the inevitability of human error will display itself somewhere on the website or in our work. Please let us know so we can fix it! Contact us.
Q. I know of a product/service/website you just have to know about! Where should I send that info?
A.We always want to be up on the latest healthiness scoop, so please contact us with information you think may be valuable to other mothers!
